Contoh :

                  Whose books are these ?

1^st  PS        :  They are  my books.

2^nd PS         :  They are your books.

3^rd PS         :  They are Jono’s books.

                     They are his book.

1^st PP         :  They are our books.

2^nd PP         :  They are your books.

                     They are your books.

                     They are their books.

They are Jono’s books = They are the books of Jono.

They are the boy’s books.                                  Boy = singular    (….’s).

They are the boys’s books.                                 Boys = plural  (….s’)

They are the child’s books.                                 Child = singular.

They are the children’s books.                            Children = plural.

Catatan :

      It’s the table’s leg.  <salah>                                                           

      It’s the leg of the table.  <benar, karena benda mati>        

Exercise : Translate into good English. Use possessive case whenever possible !

1.   Ayah si Jono juru tulis.

            Jono’s father is typist.    <salah>

            Jono’s father is a typist.

2.   Pakaian anak-anak itu kotor.

            The children’s shirts are dirty.

3.   Atap rumah itu merah.

            That house’s roop is red.

4.   Mobil jenderal itu bagus.

            The General’s car is good.

5.   Di manakah sepatu adikmu ?

            Where is your’s little brother shoes.

6.   Kantor ahli hukum itu buka jam 10.00.

            That Lawyer’s  office is open at 10.00 o’clock.  <salah, present bukan present continuous>

            That Lawyer’s  office opens at 10.00. o’clock.

7.   Rambut anak-anak perempuan itu pendek.

            The girls’s hair are short.

8.   Kami sedang mengapur dinding kamar mandi.

            We are whitewashing the batchroom’s  wall.

9.   Jas direktur kami coklat muda.

            Our  director’s coat is light brown.

     

10. Ekor kuda itu pendek.

            The horse’s tail is short.
